Rep. Hahn: “Dedicated Office Hours for Deferred Action Process”

San Pedro, CA – In response to the release of the Deferred Action for Early Childhood Arrivals (DACA) application by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and the overwhelming interest in the program by young people, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-36) will be holding dedicated office hours to provide an information overview and to discuss qualifications for the program.   USCIS released the forms and the instructions to apply for the process of Deferred Action on August 15th which allows for eligible young people under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012 to apply for protection from deportation.

“I am excited for the approximately 4,000 DREAMers in my congressional district.  It’s very important to seek assistance from reliable sources and take the time to gather your supporting documents.  There is a lot of misinformation and fraud out in the community already.  My office will be providing information on the program and directing young people to reputable organizations that can provide help.”

Dedicated office hours for potential DACA applicants will be held in the San Pedro Congressional District Office located at 140 W. 6th Street on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, San Pedro and in the Wilmington District Office on Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.  The Wilmington office is located at 544 N. Avalon Boulevard, Suite 307.  People can also schedule individual appointments by calling (310) 831 – 1799.

A list of USCIS accredited agencies can be found on Congresswoman Hahn’s website at www.hahn.house.gov/daca.
