Rep. Hahn, “We must move forward to continue to lower costs and increase accessibility”
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn announced her intention to vote against Republican efforts to once again repeal the Affordable Care Law.
“We should be working together to continue to lower health care costs and expand access, not trying once again to repeal reform,” said Rep. Hahn. “This is the 31st time Republicans have tried to repeal health care reform that helps young adults get health care coverage, saves seniors billions on prescription drugs and will give tens of millions of Americans the ability afford high quality health care. If the law needs tweaking, let’s work together. But I won’t vote to repeal it.”
The Affordable Care Law has already provided significant benefits to Californians. For example:
“The Affordable Care Law is making health care more affordable and accessible,” Rep. Hahn noted. “Today, the average American family pays more than $1,000 extra every year to cover the costs of those who cannot afford or choose not to buy insurance. If we are going to control costs, we have to expand the pool of those with insurance and make sure that we are paying for the quality of care, not just quantity. That is what the Affordable Care Law does.”
