Congresswoman Hahn Fights for Historic Venice Post Office

Aug 3, 2011

WASHINGTON D.C., 8/3– Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn appealed the U.S. Postal Service’s decision to relocate retail postal services from the historic Venice Post Office, delivering a formal letter to Diana K. Alvarado, the U.S. Postal Executive responsible for the decision.

“I stand with the Venice community in their overwhelming opposition to this move,” said Congresswoman Hahn. “Relocating from this landmark New Deal building with its magnificent mural not only pushes spillover parking and car traffic into a residential area that can’t support it, it endangers a beautiful piece of local history. I am asking the Postal Service to recognize the damage this move would do to Venice, and reverse its decision.”

Congresswoman Hahn’s letter to Ms. Alvarado is available below.
